From the moment I took the duties of the Municipal Authority Aisonia made sure to highlight the characteristics of the region, mores, through a series of events. Top all, the Vlach Wedding, made the second half of August and has become an institution for the region. This is the revival of the Vlachs Wedding, with live music, dance and food. The event takes place in the central plaza of the Municipal District Sesklou in many other parts of the village as the Church, home to the best man, the bride and groom with the participation of many local residents. Children and adults dressed in traditional costumes, revived in recent years with great joy and enthusiasm the custom of Vlach Wedding, ενώ εκατοντάδες επισκέπτες κατακλύζουν το χωριό για να παρακολουθήσουν την όμορφη εκδήλωση.

VLACHIKOS WEDDING IN SESKLO

Lasted 5 days (from Wednesday to Sunday).

Wednesday : ελεύθερες κοπέλες συμμετέχουν στο φόρτωμα των ξύλων που θα χρησιμεύσουν στην ετοιμασία του φαγητού.

On Thursday: Being prepared for kneading bread to be used in wedding. The bread is called "Simi" or "GET" and consists of flour, chickpeas, βασιλικό και βάγια.

On Friday: an exhibition of dowry. The bride's trousseau is ready and spread out to see a relative or friend who wants. Στην έκθεση παρευρίσκεται όλο το χωριό το οποίο έχει προσκληθεί με κουφέτα.

Saturday: made arrangements for the slaughter of animals and food preparation. At night feast at the bride's home, ξεχωριστά από τον γαμπρό και το σόι του.

On Sunday: μετά το γάμο ακολουθεί γλέντι στο σπίτι του γαμπρού μόνο με το σόι του και με την παρουσία νεόνυμφων.

The Process of Marriage
On Sunday morning bratimia (friends of the groom) accompany the groom's best man at home (together with the institutions). The groom gives the best man a jug of wine and the best man to the groom a slain, και επιστρέφουν όλοι μαζί στο σπίτι του γαμπρού.

Then bratimia start with the horses to get dowry from the bride's house. There is a process where they give some money to the bride to receive her dowry. Τα φορτώνουν και με την συνοδεία των οργάνων επιστρέφουν στο σπίτι του γαμπρού.

Followed by lunch and before they begin to get the bride wreaths, is shaving the groom, singing songs Vlach. After starting again for the bride's house where there are waiting for the in-laws, follow the treat, ανταλλάσσονται οι κουλούρες και ο πατέρας της νύφης επιστρέφει στον συμπέθερο το «κάπαρο» που ήταν σύμβολο τιμής κατά τους αρραβώνες.

Since bratimia wear shoes the bride, start together for the church where in its courtyard is the tradition of the bride to the groom. After the wedding ceremony the newlyweds and in-laws go to the groom's house where the mother-in-law awaits the bride and offering butter to form 3 φορές σταυρό στην κεντρική πόρτα και τρώει η νύφη με την πεθερά της γλυκό για να είναι γλυκιά και η σχέση τους.

A feast at home and after a while return back to the village square to make hanging the groom (to force the bride to make a table). Μετά από αυτή τη διαδικασία ακολουθεί γλέντι ως το πρωί με όλους τους προσκεκλημένους και τα συμπεθέρια.

Annual trade fair AISONIAS

Institution of the summer for the municipality Aisonia is the annual fair that takes place in the first fortnight of August (5-12/8) in the MOT, and a crowd gathers round’ όλη τη διάρκειά του.

CELEBRATION melons

Στο Διμήνι, which is famous for the production of melon, held every summer celebration melon. Μία βραδιά γεμάτη παραδοσιακή μουσική και χορό όπου οι επισκέπτες έχουν την ευκαιρία να διασκεδάσουν και φυσικά να δοκιμάσουν τα νόστιμα πεπόνια Διμηνίου.

2/2, celebrates the parish of settlement Diminiou, ο ΙερόςDiminiπαπαντής του Χριστού.

Second day of Easter, operation performed in chapel of St. Nicholas, the settlement Paliouri, closely followed the established multi-terrain race with prize “the scarf” το περιεχόμενο του οποίου είναι κατά βούληση οικονομική συνδρομή των θεατών του αγώνα.

Third day of Easter, πανηγυρίζει το παρεκκλήσι του Αγίου Ραφαήλ στον οικισμό Λάμιας.

Two Sundays after Easter Sunday, πανηγυρίζει το ιερό προσκύνημα των Μυροφόρων.

21/5, πανηγυρίζει το εξωκκλήσι του Αγίου Κωνσταντίνου.

15/8, πανηγυρίζει το περεκκλήσι της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου.

23/8, celebrates the parish of settlement Lamia, ο Ιερός Ναός Απόδοσης Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου.

6/12, celebrates the parish of settlement Paliouri, ο Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Νικολάου.

Ash Monday : The sacred pilgrimage place Myrrhbearers kite contest and other games. Also, distributed the traditional bean soup, Laganas and local wine. Ο κόσμος μπορεί να διασκεδάσει με ζωντανή ορχήστρα.

Sesklo : Feasts and festivals

The Municipal District Sesklou celebrates twice a year. On 8 November commemorates the celebration of the patron saints of the Archangels (Michael & Gabriel) the church of the Archangel located in Central Square Sesklou. This is one of the biggest celebrations of Orthodoxy which honors crowds who flock to the Temple of’ all areas of Magnesia, not only. Την παραμονή τελείται Εσπερινός και ανήμερα πανηγυρική Θεία Λειτουργία με την συμμετοχή μεγάλου αριθμού επίσημων καλεσμένων.

The second great local feast Sesklo is on 8 May each year our church commemorates John the Theologian. The religious celebration is combined with folk festival Sesklo on 7, 8 and 9 May with folk music taking place various cultural events such as traditional dances from all parts of the dance Sesklou Cultural Association and other Associations. Also becomes general revelry which brings all visitors. Η όλη εκδήλωση γίνεται στο πλακόστρωτο μέρος της Κεντρικής Πλατείας του χωριού με τη συμμετοχή πλήθους επισκεπτών που γλεντάει μέχρι τις πρώτες πρωινές ώρες.

Occasionally, the liturgy of this feast of local (but in celebration of November 8) has attended the Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Christodoulos status then the Bishop Dimitriados (Sesklo belongs to the Metropolis Dimitriados), and the current Bishop Dimitriados k. Ignatius. You should also refer to two other local festivals, smaller in scope of events but equally important for the Orthodox Church. It is the celebration of Prophet Elijah (20 July) and the Beheading of Timias Head of St. John the Baptist (29 August). The holidays are celebrated, on the day Mass and vespers on the eve of their respective chapels Sesklou, built in two beautiful locations. Η προσέλευση των κατοίκων κι εδώ είναι μεγάλη.
