Άνω Βόλος. Στο βάθος ο λόφος της Επισκοπής.

Ο Ano Volos divided, in the districts of Prophet Elias, της St.  , τηςMary, της Diocese andToumba. Of the attractions of the village stands the church of Our Lady of the Presentation (Panayitsa), where visitors can admire the folk reliefs in limestone, that is fitted on the outside of the sanctuary, καθώς και δύο θαυμάσια μαρμάρινα ανάγλυφα του 13ου αιώνα που ήταν εντοιχισμένα παλιότερα στον ναό της Επισκοπής και τα μετέφεραν από την παλιά και κατεστραμμένη μονή Οξείας Επισκέψεως της Μακρινίτσας.

Σone of these reliefs depicted upright Virgin Mary holding the hand also the infant Christ standing on the other side sat the monk Leontius. And the other is erect the Archangel Michael. One of the most interesting,όμως, attractions of the church are two large signs with Byzantine characters and archaic texts that are carved in marble, side and left the tap of the church. From the very difficult reading and even more difficult interpretation of texts carved the fountain was constructed in 1713, με δαπάνη του τότε Επισκόπου Λαρίσης Παρθενίου.

ΑPo other monumental elements of the temple is also quite stylish the Sanctuary gate at the Beautiful Gate carved but without many decorative handcrafted wooden screen,and the bishop's throne and the pulpit,with sparse gold embroidery. Good art and despotic and most of the icons, some of which belong to the church of the Assumption of the hill of the Diocese, απ’τον οποίο μεταφέρθηκαν για καλύτερη ασφάλεια στο ναό των Εισοδίων.

Ο μακαρίτης αισθητικός της λαϊκής τέχνης  Κίτσος Μακρής, ήταν ο πρώτος που πρόσεξε μια ολόγλυφη ανθρώπινη κεφαλή στο ίδιο ντουβάρι, πάνω από την κεντρική κόγχη του Ιερού, που είναι πολύ πιθανό να εικονίζει τον αρχιμάστορα της ίδρυσης ή ανακαίνισης του ναού.

Στο παλιό κωδωνοστάσιο του ναού, που βρισκόταν κοντά στη βορεινή του θύρα και γκρεμίστηκε στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα, υπήρχαν εντοιχισμένες επτά ενεπίγραφες αρχαίες επιτύμβιες στήλες, για τις οποίες κάνει λόγο πρώτος ο παλιός ρασοφόρος λόγιος του Βόλου  Ζωσιμάς Εσφυγμενίτης. Διότι πρόλαβε να τις δει στα 1887 εντοιχισμένες στη πρόσοψη του όρθιου ακόμα τότε κωδωνοστασίου. Μάλιστα κατάφερε και αντέγραψε τις δυο απ’ αυτές που ανήκαν σε οικογενειακούς τάφους και μας έδωσε πρώτος τα ονόματα των αρχαίων νεκρών που ήταν. Της πρώτης: ΕΥΚAΑΤΙΔΗΣ, ΣΩΣΙΓΕΝΗΣ, ΕΥΚΡΑΤΙΔΟΥ, ΝΙΚΟΠΟΛΙΣ, ΑΡΙΣΤΑΡΧΟΥ. Και της δεύτερης: ΝΙΚΑΡΕΤΑ, ΜΕΝΙΚΟΠΟΛΙΣΙΚΟΠΟΛΙΣ. Από τον ίδιο επίσης παίρνουμε τη πληροφορία πως ο ναός αυτός “ιδρύθη τω 1803 ή μάλλον επιδιορθώθη”.

Ο Άνω Βόλος μαζί με την Anakasia ήταν ο πραγματικός Βόλος των χρόνων της Τουρκοκρατίας. Ειδικά για τη διοικητική κατάσταση (πολιτική και θρησκευτική) της περιοχής μαθαίνουμε από τον Γιάννη Κορδάτο, που παραθέτει σχετικά στοιχεία απ΄τη ”Γεωγραφία Μερική” του Αργύρη Φιλιππίδη, ότι ο ”Άνω Βόλος είν’ πρώτη χώρα της Δημητριάδος. Διαιρείται εις μαχαλάδες πέντε, και κάθε μαχαλάς έχει τον τζορμπατζήν του (προύχοντα, διοικητήν) και ξιλντάριν του. Ο Βοϊοβοντάρης είναι ένας. Κάθεται εις τον μαχαλάν Ανακασιάς, επάνω εις ένα τεπέν (λεξ. Τουρκ.=ύψωμα) πέτρινον και μπροστά του όλον τον Βόλον. Απέναντι του Βοϊβόντα, κατανατολάς, ένας τεπές, υψηλότερος από τον Βόλον. Κι εδώ είναι η Επισκοπή, εδώ κάθονταν πρώτα ο Επίσκοπος Δημητριάδος. Έχει εκκλησίαν και κονάκι περιτριγυρισμένη με κάστρο”.

Ο Άνω Βόλος είναι η κοιτίδα της οικογένειας Σαράτση: ο γιατρός Δημήτριος Σαράτσης υπήρξε από τους πρωταγωνιστές της γνωστής υπόθεσης των “Αθεϊκών” τουΒόλου και διετέλεσε βουλευτής Βόλου, γερουσιαστής και Υπουργός Υγιεινής στην κυβέρνηση Αλέξανδρου Παπαναστασίου. Ο επίσης γιατρός  Νικόλαος Σαράτσης διετέλεσε Δήμαρχος Βόλου από το 1936 ως το 1940 και η κόρη του Έρση Saratsi, γνωστή διανοούμενη, ήταν η “ψυχή” του συλλόγου “Φιλότεχνοι του Βόλου“, που άφησε εποχή στα πνευματικά και καλλιτεχνικά δρώμενα της Μαγνησιακής πρωτεύουσας.

Η Anakasia located west before Ano Volos. The origin of place names have been several respects. According to them the name may have originated:

• FromAkasto, γιό του βασιλιά της Ιωλκού Πελία.

• Από τη λέξη sitting up → anakat'sia denoting “place in the high,where newcomers settled”.

• Από τη λέξη forced,because the years of Ottoman, �• From the wordης περιοχής περνούσαν από εκεί αναγκαστικά για την πληρωμή των φόρων.

Αince 1991 is the seat of Iolkos. A particular point of reference is the katastolisto from 1912 with paintings of folk artist Θεόφιλουhome Yannis Kontos, Since 1981 operates as Μουσείο Θεόφιλου.

H Church St. John of Baptist Located in Anakasia and The Cathedral City Iolkou. Burned many times by the Turks rebuilt bolder after each arson. O church is a three-aisled Basilica. Two sets of three columns divide the church into three naves.'s A rectangular building with a roof, χωρίς τρούλο όπως οι Βυζαντινοί ναοί.

Oj old frescoes on the ceiling and large icons, are exceptional art. At the top of the image of the decapitation of St. in’ a large table depicted many diners. Among Herod and Herodias. Mέσα στο ναό κυριαρχεί μια αρχοντική όψη με γύψινα σκαλίσματα. Οι παλιότεροι έδειχναν ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για τον ιερό αυτό χώρο γιατί είναι ένα πραγματικό καλλιτέχνημα.

Tο τέμπλο, το δεσποτικό και ο άμβωνας είναι ξύλινοι, ξυλόγλυπτοι χρώματος καφέ και η κατασκευή τους χρονολογείται στην τελευταία ανακατασκευή του ναού (1850). Στο επάνω μέρος του άμβωνα και του δεσποτικού υπάρχουν σκαλιστά φύλλα, αναρριχητικών φυτών και παραδείσια πτηνά επιχρυσωμένα, όπως επιχρυσωμένο είναι το άνω μέρος από τις κολώνες που χωρίζουν τα κλίτη.

Τa Ανωβολιώτικα χωριά είναι τα πρώτα που συναντά ο επισκέπτης του Πηλίου που σε σαγηνεύουν και προσφέρουν μοναδικές στιγμές απόδρασης από το βουητό της μεγαλούπολης. With two-wheel drive or the scenery is idyllic with the constant changes of whitewashed mansions of the white residents, τη λαξεμένη και πανέμορφη γκρίζα πηλιορείτικη πλάκα.

Αρχίζεις και νιώθεις όσο ανεβαίνεις, το σφυγμό του βουνού των Κενταύρων. Αρχίζουν να ξετυλίγονται καρέ-καρέ οι παραδόσεις και οι μύθοι που συνοδεύουν τη περιοχή και γίνεσαι μύστης αυτής της απαράμιλλης ομορφιάς. Τον 3^ο BC. αιώνα ο Μακεδόνας βασιλιάς Δημήτριος ο Πολιορκητής για την αποτελεσματικότερη διοίκηση του κράτους του αποφάσισε την ίδρυση νέας πρωτεύουσας στον μυχό του Παγασητικού. Η πόλη ονομάστηκε Δημητριάς. Πρώτο μέλημά του ήταν η οχύρωσή της με ισχυρά τείχη και εξελίχτηκε με τον καιρό σε διεθνές εμπορικό λιμάνι.

Ανάμεσα στο Βόλο και τη Δημητριάδα αρραγής συνδετικός κρίκος είναι ο Δήμος Ιωλκού. Οι κάτοικοι του σημερινού Δήμου Ιωλκού, σύμφωνα με τα ιστορικά στοιχεία είναι οι απόγονοι των τελευταίων κατοίκων της Δημητριάδας. When the 1423 η Θεσσαλία καταλήφθηκε από τις ορδές του Τουρχάν Βέη, στρατηγό του Μουράτ Β’, οι Οθωμανοί έδιωξαν από το “Κάστρο” του Γόλου τους Έλληνες και εγκαταστάθηκαν εκεί γιατί ο χώρος παρείχε ασφάλεια. Εκεί κατοίκησαν και Τούρκοι έποικοι που μεταφέρθηκαν από την Ασία. The settlers them were several of the most fertile farmland in the surrounding area.

Mafter the 1980 η περιοχή προσέλκυσε και πολλούς εύπορους αφού είναι ιδιαίτερου φυσικού κάλλους και με πολύ καλό κλίμα.

Ο torrent Krafsidonas starts at the top of Pelion at an altitude of 1350 meters and ends Pagasitikos bay in the southwest of the Old Quarter Volos. Its total area is 24,9 τετρ. χιλιόμετρα, while the flat portion of the area has 5,5 square. km. Αποτελεί ένα φυσικό σύνορο καθώς χωρίζει τα πολεοδομικά συγκροτήματα Βόλου και Νέας Ιωνίας.

Also a number looms wove silk fabrics and Skoutas. Ακόμα σε όλα τα χωριά καλλιεργούνταν οι μεταξοσκώληκες και η εργασία αυτή ήταν μια από τις σπουδαιότερες των κατοίκων και ιδιαίτερα των γυναικών.
