Traditional Architecture

H Makrynitsa reached its peak in the 18th and 19th century., it 1881 when it became the seat of the former municipality Makrinitsas. The urban organization is based on’ a basic cobblestone pedestrian “backbone”, starting from’ Koukourava in altitude 300 μ. and reaches up to an altitude Kakouna 800 μ. A second paved road leads to the mry last house on the most remote district. In the village center, the large paved square in altitude 630 measures shaded by huge plane trees, adorned’ the unique water fountain (1809) ornamented with rich stone reliefs.
