Makrynitsa developed almost linearly between the gorge and the treeless rock Sarakinos the west and the deep ravine of Megalo Rema east, on a spate of natural soil. The beautiful and spacious paved square with tall, ancient trees, the distinct old fountain with bronze lion head and the picturesque church of St. John the Baptist, previously worked as a market, known as “the bazaar Makrinitsas”.
