Since 1991 and every summer 15 July to 30 September organized by the Community of cultural events under the name Makrynitsa (and the corresponding year) with exhibitions, photography, sculpture, with theatrical performances, concerts with traditional Greek music and singing and leading event presenting the folk custom “Maides”.
The tourism development Makrinitsas begins the decade 1960, when residents realize they must retain their character, to promote their special, manners and customs.
Their concerns are finding a way out through the “Progressive Association Makrinitsas”, reviving the unique folk custom “Maides” and setting up of the Museum of Folk Art and History of Pelion. The great cultural intervention that led the Community in the early 1990 in organizing cultural events established and their reputation spread in the Greek area and surpassed.
