VLACHIKOS WEDDING

From the moment I took the duties of the Municipal Authority Aisonia made sure to highlight the characteristics of the region, mores, through a series of events. Top all, the Vlach Wedding, made the second half of August and has become an institution for the region. This is the revival of the Vlachs Wedding, with live music, dance and food. The event takes place in the central plaza of the Municipal District Sesklou in many other parts of the village as the Church, home to the best man, the bride and groom with the participation of many local residents. Children and adults dressed in traditional costumes, revived in recent years with great joy and enthusiasm the custom of Vlach Wedding, while hundreds of visitors flock the village to watch the beautiful event.

VLACHIKOS WEDDING IN SESKLO

Lasted 5 days (from Wednesday to Sunday).

Wednesday : unmarried girls involved in uploading the woods would be useful in preparing food.

On Thursday: Being prepared for kneading bread to be used in wedding. The bread is called "Simi" or "GET" and consists of flour, chickpeas, basil and bay.

On Friday: an exhibition of dowry. The bride's trousseau is ready and spread out to see a relative or friend who wants. In the present report the entire village which has been invited by sugared.

Saturday: made arrangements for the slaughter of animals and food preparation. At night feast at the bride's home, separately from the groom and kin.

On Sunday: after the wedding feast follows the groom's home only with kin in the presence of Groom.

The Process of Marriage
On Sunday morning bratimia (friends of the groom) accompany the groom's best man at home (together with the institutions). The groom gives the best man a jug of wine and the best man to the groom a slain, and return together to the groom's house.

Then bratimia start with the horses to get dowry from the bride's house. There is a process where they give some money to the bride to receive her dowry. The load and with the accompaniment of the instruments return to the groom's house.

Followed by lunch and before they begin to get the bride wreaths, is shaving the groom, singing songs Vlach. After starting again for the bride's house where there are waiting for the in-laws, follow the treat, exchanged the coils and the bride's father returns to the in-laws "capers" which was symbol of honor during engagements.

Since bratimia wear shoes the bride, start together for the church where in its courtyard is the tradition of the bride to the groom. After the wedding ceremony the newlyweds and in-laws go to the groom's house where the mother-in-law awaits the bride and offering butter to form 3 times cross at the front door and eats the bride to her in-laws sweet to be sweet and their relationship.

A feast at home and after a while return back to the village square to make hanging the groom (to force the bride to make a table). After this process as a feast in the morning with all the guests and in-laws.

Annual trade fair AISONIAS

Institution of the summer for the municipality Aisonia is the annual fair that takes place in the first fortnight of August (5-12/8) in the MOT, and a crowd gathers round’ throughout the duration.

CELEBRATION melons

Dimini, which is famous for the production of melon, held every summer celebration melon. An evening full of traditional music and dance where guests have the opportunity to have fun and of course to try the delicious melons Diminiou.

2/2, celebrates the parish of settlement Diminiou, the Church of the Presentation of Christ.

Ash Monday : The sacred pilgrimage place Myrrhbearers kite contest and other games. Also, distributed the traditional bean soup, Laganas and local wine. The world can be entertained with live orchestra.

Sesklo : Feasts and festivals

The Municipal District Sesklou celebrates twice a year. On 8 November commemorates the celebration of the patron saints of the Archangels (Michael & Gabriel) the church of the Archangel located in Central Square Sesklou. This is one of the biggest celebrations of Orthodoxy which honors crowds who flock to the Temple of’ all areas of Magnesia, not only. Eve is celebrated Vespers and the day of solemn Divine Liturgy with the participation of a large number of official guests.

The second great local feast Sesklo is on 8 May each year our church commemorates John the Theologian. The religious celebration is combined with folk festival Sesklo on 7, 8 and 9 May with folk music taking place various cultural events such as traditional dances from all parts of the dance Sesklou Cultural Association and other Associations. Also becomes general revelry which brings all visitors. The event is part of the paved central square with the participation of many visitors merry until the wee hours.

Occasionally, the liturgy of this feast of local (but in celebration of November 8) has attended the Beatitude the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Christodoulos status then the Bishop Dimitriados (Sesklo belongs to the Metropolis Dimitriados), and the current Bishop Dimitriados k. Ignatius.
