The book impressed me and other reasons. It's a full scientific study mapping the buildings in the region of Magnesia, with rich photographic material and accompanying folklore-ethnographic, ie traditions and stories about the buildings, information on their uses and so much more original and brand new items. Moreover Costas Sakavalas incorporating them into the natural surroundings and the local climate, taking into account the principles of Cultural Ecology.
The Sakavalas but did not stay there. Approached the issue of total, integrated, focusing on the concept dome, bow, xerolithia temporal. So rightly has included material on the ancient tradition that continues in Greek and other paramesogeiako site domed building, starting from the prehistoric period, eg. oldest circular tombs of Crete, Minoan and Mycenaean graves, domed buildings of ancient Greek and Roman period, domes, temples, while not restricted geographically but also expanded the study compared to modern Crete (mitata, Kumiko) etc.. in other Balkan and European countries, Slovenia, Croatian, France, Italy, Corsica, Spain etc.. The comparative approach is indispensable.
