Origin of the place name:
There are two versions of origin of the place name "Katihori" or "Katochori"-the double name is very old, from the Ottoman era:
"Katihori" is the village of Kati. Indeed, it 1842, the katichorites succeeded in transferring katiliki (County court) in their village. Thus the village became the seat of the Turkish judge, of Kati, from which it took its name.
"Katihori", called the Lower Mahal Portaria, who subsequently became independent.

Brief Chronology:
The medieval name of the village is Lower Dryanoybaina. When John Kordatou, must have belonged to the Byzantine government or someone lord, relative of the Emperor. Later became Turkish manor. At the beginning of Ottoman rule was considered the Lower Mahal Portaria, But over time divided and formed a separate community. It 1615 had 182 families and 17 homes. He also had a Turkish mosque. Argyris says Filippídis, in the early 19th century, the existence of many monasteries in the area. Later, Dorotheos Scholarius writes, for the period 1860-1870, that the village has 1000 residents and big houses ,while Rimatisidis, on the 1870, finds katichorites "polypragmonas and selfish".
It 1883, the Katihori and Portaria constituting the municipality Orminiou str. Four years later, it 1887, the Katihori operated two schools, male and female, with 92 schoolchildren.
There were also here galiagries, mills that, one of which survives today, is elementary and presents to students and visitors the traditional olive oil production. There were still artisans who worked copper, silver and gold. The residents of KATICHORI dealt with sericulture, crafts silk and leather.
In the early years of the 20th century, crops of apple coriander, trees and vineyards are the main occupations of the villagers. In the interwar, electrification increases the production of craft workshops. Then electrified and a mill, of Chatzigianni, while Simos remains ydrokinoumeno.
