GREEN, PLANTS & FLORA

The Green Administration is the competent authority for the protection and improvement of the local natural environment by taking appropriate measures and regulating the relevant activities as well as for the maintenance and development of the green areas of the Municipality according to the Internal Service of the Municipality Volos. The specific responsibilities of the Green Division within the framework of its mission are determined by the applicable provisions of the Laws, Decrees and Ministerial Decisions. The Directorate is administratively the decentralized Green Section of the municipal unit of N. Ionia.

The principles of development and protection of the urban - peri-urban green of the Municipality of Volos ( Green Regulation ) are determined by the no. 702/2012 a decision of the Volos Municipal Council.

Responsibilities of Green, Plants & Flora

The citizen can contact the Green Service either by telephone or electronic communication or by requesting the following:
  • Planting new trees on pavements or public green areas
  • Pruning trees on sidewalks or public green areas
  • Cutting trees on sidewalks or in common green areas. Following the recommendation of the Green Managing Authority, the Quality of Life Committee will give its opinion and the City Council will take the final decision to issue a small-scale license if the tree is cut.
  • Weeding of weeds (weeds) in plants or public areas of Green
  • Collection of branches or garbage from parks and squares
  • Any nature of concern regarding the maintenance of green areas (eg tree watering, tree support with piles, damage to irrigationpark system, squares, islands, etc.)
  • Any issue that concerns the development, protection and management of urban-peri-urban green
  • Tips for shaping and planting in private or public areas
  • Advice on any plant protection issues and especially to deal with - Red beetle pest control in private or public areas
